Some sex charges dropped against Chicago Heights parks police chief

Though the population of Chicago Heights has been in steady decline since the 1970s, it still boasts a population of slightly more than 30,000 residents. The south suburb garnered headlines after its Park District police chief was arrested in October on charges of non-consensual dissemination of sexual images and intimidation.

Two women initially claimed that Christian Daigre, 41, had secretly recorded sexual encounters with them and then shared the images without their consent. A third woman then made similar allegations against him, but prosecutors announced days ago that they have dropped the latest charges.

"After a review of the evidence related to this case, we concluded that we are unable to meet our burden of proof to sustain the criminal charge,” the state’s attorney spokesperson said in a statement.

However, the charges related to the accusations made by the first two women are still pending. The park district police chief has been suspended without pay.

Daigre has pleaded not guilty to the non-consensual dissemination charges, as well as a related intimidation charge.

The women said they met him through an online dating site. They said they had consensual sexual encounters with him, but that he surreptitiously used a camera positioned near his apartment ceiling to record encounters. He then allegedly shared sexually explicit images of the women with another person without their consent.

Daigre allegedly sent the images to former Chicago Heights Park District Police Chief Jose Maldonado. A Chicago Tribune article says that when Maldonado reported the texts to authorities, Daigre allegedly threatened to harm him.

Those facing similar allegations should decline to speak to prosecutors and investigators until after they have spoken with a criminal defense attorney devoted to protecting rights and freedom.
