Background:
Prior to working as a criminal defense attorney, Darryl A. Goldberg worked as a prosecutor as an Assistant Corporation Counsel in the City of Chicago Corporation Counsel's office. As a municipal prosecutor, Mr. Goldberg worked with numerous law enforcement agencies and with various departments within the City of Chicago. His experience as a prosecutor and his insight into the workings of the City of Chicago has truly benefited his clients. However, Mr. Goldberg always wanted to bring his talent to the defense bar.
As a criminal defense attorney, Mr. Goldberg has defended clients in trials and motions involving a variety of Federal, State, and local crimes. He has tried numerous cases and motions involving massive quantities of drugs, where he successfully suppressed crucial evidence against his clients. Mr. Goldberg has defended clients in both jury and bench trials and has developed a reputation as an aggressive attorney who gets results. He has tried cases involving various federal crimes (including white-collar crimes), criminal fraud, violations of the RICO Act, assault and battery, murder, weapons charges, sex crimes and narcotic violations. While Mr. Goldberg's practice is based in Chicago, he is also licensed in the State of Florida, as well as numerous Federal Courts throughout the United States. He constantly travels all over the country, to various State and Federal Courts, to defend his clients and ensure their rights. In addition to criminal law, Mr. Goldberg represents clients in select civil rights, personal injury, and medical malpractice cases.
Mr. Goldberg is committed to his work as a defense attorney and is an active member of numerous Bar Associations. Mr. Goldberg is currently serving as the 2007-08 Vice Chair of the Chicago Bar Association's Criminal Law Committee, as well as the Co-Chair of the Young Lawyers Section of the Chicago Bar Association's Criminal Justice Section, both positions he held that previous bar year. Mr. Goldberg is also the Vice Chair of the American Bar Association Young Lawyer Division Criminal Justice Section and is serving as the American Bar Association, Section of Litigation, Trial Evidence Committee, Criminal Law Sub-committee chair for the second consecutive year. Mr. Goldberg has written articles for the American Bar Association and regularly appears on national and international television and radio as a legal commentator. Mr. Goldberg is also a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He graduated with honors from the Chicago-Kent College of Law and attended college at the University of Michigan where he was named an Angell Scholar.
